Dear Students and Parents,
WAD (We Are Diverse) is an organization which was inspired and established by students at West just a few years ago. The goal of these student founders remains WAD’s mission today which is, “To create a space that brings together West students to exchange ideas, listen and share, both our diversity and our unity, to make the West community and larger world a better place for all.”
All students are welcome to attend WAD’s monthly meetings! WAD meetings will be held this school year on the second Friday of every month during the 7:35-8:05 AM time period in a room off / near the library that will be announced. WAD working groups and subcommittees will meet additionally during other times as projects and undertakings require.
The focus and activities of WAD during the upcoming school year will be determined by this year’s participating WAD students. Past activities and learning endeavors have included a wide range of options and opportunities from field trips to Native American, African, and Mexican-American cultural performances, to film outings to learn about the history and experiences of diverse groups in our society, to participation in local Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Cesar Chavez Day Commemorations, and interactive community events of all types..
WAD is looking forward to a fabulous school year! So, please consider attending one of WAD’s monthly meetings, that are open to all, to learn and grow from and through coming to know a wide range of West students and participating in our events and activities.
